Our home has a brilliant balance of in-house and external visitors in order to provide stimulating and enjoyable activities for our residents. We have a range of group and individual exercises from sing-a-longs to basic exercise, quizzes, movie evenings and planned events. We review our activity programme often to cater for the wishes of our residents and believe that providing a motivating and exciting environment greatly enhances the quality of life for all involved. We encourage visitors, relatives and friends to participate in activites and outings as much as possible.
Please see our 'Activities & Events' page for photographs and reports of the recent activities at Tilsley House.
We have a number of external providers who visit us regularly to promote activities in small and collective groups and for individuals such as an artist, relaxation therapist and music and movement therapists. We have excellent feedback from residents and relatives when we host activites and open days and aim to incorporate all wishes into our programme as much as possible.
We have also been taking residents out in small groups to local cafes for cream teas since the start of the more admirable weather - our residents thoroughly enjoy trips out and are offered the choice to go and asked where they would like to go etc. Furthermore, we encourage as many in-house activities as possible which are centered around the garden, our large lounge spaces and the kitchen. We ensure that we have a number of activities going on regularly throughout the day in order to stimulate residents and to encourage as much interaction as possible.
Many of our residents receive treatments on a regular basis such as hairdressing, chiropody and beauty therapy including massages. These are services regularly offered to residents and incur a small extra charge. We also consult other providers as preferences arise.
We belive that it is important to encourage variety and choice within the activites which we provide and arrange for residents and to make them as rewarding as possible. We liaise with local schools and have visitors come in often - thus mixing with the local community and also have a few residents that attend prospective churches and groups.
